VJ Bloomin

VJ Bloomin, whose real name is Minna Saalasti (born 1993 in Suomenniemi) is a Finnish-Thai media artist and VJ. She is currently in her third year of studies at Tampere University of Applied Sciences, majoring in Interactive Media. Saalasti’s interest in media art was sparked when she founded the cultural association NeoElement RY in 2016 with other young people interested in visual arts. Saalasti has performed under her VJ alias Bloomin visuals at various events, including the Mitäs Mitäs Mitäs Festival and Afrojam clubs. Her animations have also been projected on the facade of the Kaleva Church and shown at Projio Media- and light art event 2022.

Saalasti’s work is characterized by experimentation and the combination of different techniques. She creates her works using 3D and 2D animations, filmed material, and generative graphics. These techniques offer her a wide range of tools to create visual worlds in which playfulness, dreaming, and nature themes are intertwined.

At the Mitäs Mitäs Mitäs-festival, Kukku stage will showcase a millimeter-precise projection mapping combined with animations that complement the stage’s shapes, all manually mixed live.
